Iguana Exhibit

I see you little one

In 1996 Mrs. Mariam Roberson and Daniel Velasquez created a project by the name of The Green Iguana conservation. This was due to the decrease survival rate of green iguanas in Belize caused by over hunting. They decided to embark in a program that would protect the species and educate individuals about these amazing reptiles. This project has received much local and international attention. It is ranked as the number 1 activity in down town San Ignacio by trip advisor. This project uses interactive exhibits as well as programs to help educate visitors and create awareness among the general public.

Here guests are given the opportunity to pet and to spend time with these wonderful reptiles. It also allows guests to learn about the incubation, hatching, rearing, and releasing process of these animals. Guests will learn how vital these creatures can be to the ecological balance of the river habitat.
